LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Ministry of Federal Education have partnered to organize tournaments and leagues in schools, colleges, and universities throughout the nation in order to promote cricket at the grassroots level.
The program was officially launched at a ceremony attended by Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Federal Minister for Education Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. The collaboration is formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Pakistan Cricket Board, Inter-Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC), Higher Education Commission (HEC), and Capital Development Authority (CDA).
Initiatives to be taken by PCB to develop Cricket:
Cricket academies will be established in higher education institutions, women’s cricket will be improved, and the HEC will provide sports scholarships to outstanding players to further encourage participation. The partnership will concentrate on setting up cricket leagues and tournaments at various levels of education, promoting the game of cricket among boys and girls nationwide.

In addition to sending PCB coaches to schools for training camps, the PCB intends to offer specialized coaching courses for Physical Training Education (PTE) teachers. In order to guarantee top-notch conditions for the players, the PCB will also provide free training to ground workers and curators at higher education institutes.
Top finishers in college and school competitions will be given the chance to train at High-Performance Academies and join PCB’s U17 and U19 teams. The PCB will enable annual training camps for chosen competitors from inter-university tournaments. With great enthusiasm, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said, “We are excited to start this historic initiative to grow cricket at the grassroots level.” By holding intercollegiate competition, interschool, and interuniversity competitions, we will be able to identify and develop young talent around the country
According to Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, the federal minister of education, “schools are the breeding grounds for talent.” Many outstanding athletes begin their careers in educational institutions. In accordance with these agreements, the HEC will create a framework to promote cricket in higher education institutions, and the IBCC will engage with all educational boards to coordinate tournament arrangements.
